The Peveril of the Peak, Dovedale***

Named after the novel by Sir Walter Scott, this Country House hotel is set in extensive grounds, less than a mile from Dove Dale Gorge.  With individual character bedrooms, quality food and a glorious National Park setting.

Guided walking holidays are designed to see some magnificient views, To the south, the fabulous limestone plateau of the Derbyshire Dales, often referred to as the ‘White Peak’, forms a pastoral patchwork of rolling hills and dry-stone walls. Through this scene, rivers have carved a series of impressive valleys, of which Dove Dale with its sheer walls, caves and rock spires is the most famous. Equally attractive are the meandering Manifold Valley, the long dry valley of Lathkill Dale, and the beautiful scenery of Monsal Dale. Tranquil villages such as Ilam and Wetton, and the manicured estates of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, complete this most traditional of English country scenes. In contrast, walks on the gritstone moors of the Dark Peak present a moodier landscape. From the rocky escarpment of Froggatt and CurbarEdges you can gaze down on the green valley of the River Derwent below and across the open moors to the east. In the west, walks along the Roaches or on the rolling, heather-clad hills above the Goyt Valley offer extensive views and a sense of solitude.

From the easiest of rambles, to more intensive hillside challenges, now is the time to lace up your boots and get outside and explore the great outdoors. Please note that all walks travel at a leisurely pace, so that you can appreciate the countryside you are experiencing. No walks are compulsory, and you can be as active as you wish.
