Wednesday 26th May

Today we head to the seaside town of Aberytwyth. Our first excursion of the day is a ride on the Victorian Cliff Railway situated at the northern end of the promenade where Constitution Hill rises dramatically from the sea, providing spectacular and uninterrupted views of the town, Cardigan Bay and on a clear day 26 mountain peaks spanning much of the length of Wales. This funicular electric cliff railway is the longest in Britain and has been transporting visitors to the summit since opening in 1896. In the afternoon we will board the steam-hauled, narrow gauge Vale of Rheidol Railway for our second excursion. This railway was opened in 1902 and is the finest way to explore the stunning Rheidol Valley and as we make our way to Devil's Bridge you will see the countryside change as you travel through wide open fields and meadows, woodland and rugged mountain scenery, the line twisting and turning as it clings to the hillside. A cream tea is also included.
