A grand country house, this stately, storied property retains many of its original nineteenth century features, from the grand entrance to the sweeping staircase inside. The Hall has 48 bedrooms, as well as two cosy lounges and an elegant bar, providing guests with a laid-back and unstuffy retreat with a generous sprinkling of style. The Dales and countryside on the doorstep are a ramblers paradise, with easy access to Malham Cove and its deeply indented limestone pavement, Gordale Scar and Pen y Ghent as well as the pretty villages of Grassington and Kettlewell.

Airton & the River Aire
Option 1 - Introduction to Malhamdale
Distance: 4 miles (6½km) Ascent: 300 feet (80m)
We explore the pleasant lanes and footpaths of Malhamdale, following a section of the Pennine Way beside the River Aire and passing the 18th century Airton Mill.
Highlight : Airton Mill was used for the manufacture of 'Dettol' during the Second World War.
Wharfdale & Bolton Abbey
Option 1 - Barden Tower to Bolton Abbey
Distance: 4 miles (6km) Ascent: 400 feet (120m)
From Barden Tower we follow the Dales Way over fields to reach the River Wharfe. We then follow the river past The Strid to the iconic ruins of Bolton Abbey.
Highlight : Barden Tower was one of six hunting lodges and the principle seat of administration for Barden hunting forest. Henry Clifford, the Shepherd Lord, rebuilt the hunting lodge in the late 15th century and made it his principle residence
Around Malham Cove
Option 1 - Janet's Foss & Malham
Distance: 4.5 miles (7km) Ascent: 500 feet (150m)
First we leave Malham to cross National Trust land and view Janet's Foss. Then a gentle walk takes us up to the magnificent Malham Cove, before walking back into Malham village.
Highlight : Malham Cove is truly spectacular. Look out for peregrine falcons nesting on the cliffs, and the river emerging from the base of the cove.
