Mercure Walton Hall Hotel & Spa, Wellesbourne****

The contemporary Walton Hotel shares 65 acres of rolling parkland, situated just outside the village of Walton in rural Warwickshire.  All bedrooms are comfortable & modern in design.  This hotel is just a short, easy drive to both Stratford-Upon-Avon & Royal Leamington Spa.  The hotel leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna & gym.

From our base at the Walton Hall Hotel & Spa in the heart of the Shropshire countryside we’ll also visit the city of Stratford Upon Avon and the Royal Leamington Spa.

Leaving Devon and make our way to our hotel in Wellesbourne with comfort stops on route.

Wednesday 5th May

Today we visit the King Richard III Visitor Centre which charts the story of the king's life and death, revealing one of the greatest archaeological detective stories ever told. The centre is a stone's throw away from Leicester Cathedral and the tomb of King Richard. Visit to Royal Leamington Spa in afternoon.

Thursday 6th May

After a full English breakfast we travel to the National Memorial Arboretum with over 150 acres of trees and memorials devoted to the concept of Remembrance. 50,000 trees have been planted and as each tree matures it will provide a variety of woodland areas and open grass spaces. The aim of this living memorial is to offer families and friends of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country a green and pleasant land to remember their loved ones from all over the world. The rivers Tame and Trent flow through the site and there is an abundance of birdlife and wildlife to be seen, especially in the meadows and on the rivers. There are over 200 dedicated plots on this site to individuals and organizations including military, civilian victims of war, the Police, Fire Brigade and Ambulance services, charities, local and overseas organizations. A good way to explore this emotional site is take the land train where you can hop on/off as you please and an entire journey on this train will take around 50 minutes. Lunch is included.

Free time today to enjoy the many historic sights in Stratford-Upon-Avon, from a river trip on the Avon to visiting Shakespeare's House, Hall's Croft, to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre,

After a full English breakfast we return home to Devon.
