Europe’s largest Chinese lantern display

This is winter with the wow-factor! The lush green vistas of Longleat’s grand estate are transformed into a sparkling Festival of Light; you won’t be able to imagine a place more different! Thousands of lights illuminate spectacular Chinese lanterns across the estate. Enjoy a special opportunity to tour Longleat House where the halls will be decked with boughs of holly – ready for Christmas. The World Heritage city of Bath needs little introduction so it’s up to you how you would like to spend your time there; perhaps a visit to the remarkable Roman Baths, or tea at Sally Lunn’s accompanied by one of the rich brioche style Bath buns she introduced to the city in the 17th Century.

After an early dinner we can step outside the hotel to watch the Wells Carnival, a spectacle not to be missed. Huge floats make their way slowly through the medieval streets intertwined with street performers with highly inventive and stunning costumes

Best Western Swan Hotel , Wells***

The historic, award-winning 3 star Swan Hotel in Wells could not be more centrally located or have a more dramatic view! Located directly opposite Wells Cathedral, parts of the hotel date back to 1422 and, over the years, the hotel has been sympathetically refurbished and extended, offering modern amenities in a beautiful setting. All 46 bedrooms are furnished in an elegant, traditional style and are equipped with hairdryer, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Owing to the historic nature of the building, there is no lift but there are two ground floor rooms located in the adjoining Coach House. The hotel boasts an elegant yet modern bar, a comfortable lounge with a warming log fire place, a beautiful wood panelled restaurant. Large groups maybe seated in the beautiful Oak Room or the adjoining Garden Room (overlooking the Walled Garden). Attentive service, friendly staff and award-winning food ensure any visit is one to remember. The resident cat, Snow Ball, will also make you feel very welcome!
